How do I use the College Calculator for a quick approximation?

The College Calculator can give you a quick approximation of the funds you'll have available for college. Use it to answer questions such as: "If I set aside $5,000 each year until my child is 18, will I have enough to pay for a four-year college?" You can use it before you enter information in the College Planner, to get an idea of how much more you'll need to save.

Click the Planning tab.
Choose Planning Tools > College Calculator.
- To calculate a starting amount for your college savings
  In the Calculate For area, click Current College Savings.
- To calculate your annual contribution
  In the Calculate For area, click Annual Contribution.
- To calculate how much your college savings will provide
  In the Calculate For area, click Annual College Costs.
In the College Information area, enter information about your child, how much you expect college to cost, and your savings plan.
Enter the adjustments you want Quicken to make for inflation. (Optional)
Click Calculate after entering the last value.
Click Schedule to see the schedule of deposits you must make to achieve your savings goal.

  The schedule shows the balance of your savings account after each scheduled contribution, and after each withdrawal to meet college costs.
