Transaction details are fully editable.

Edit individual transactions

  1. Double-click the transaction you want to edit.

    • You can also select the transaction and click Edit in the toolbar, or choose Transactions > Edit Transaction from the Quicken menu.
  2. Make any changes by selecting the incorrect information and typing over it.
    • We strongly recommend that you always assign Categories to your transactions.
    • You can also use the pickers to select different payee names, tags, and categories.
  3.  Click to show additional transaction details such as:
    • Split Tab (which includes additional information about downloaded transactions, such as the original payee name sent by your financial institution as well as Memo and Tags fields.)
    • Split Tab
    • Attachments Tab
    • Checks Tab (checking accounts only)
  4. When you are finished, you can press Enter or simply move on to your next task.
    • Made a mistake? Choose Edit > Undo from the Quicken menu or type Z.

Note that changing the amount of a transaction can cause problems if you've already reconciled the transaction with your bank statement.

Can I move a transaction to another account?

Yes, you can move a transaction to a different account. Select the transaction and drag it to the desired account listed on the sidebar.

Bulk edit transactions

Quicken gives you the flexibility to edit multiple transactions at a time. You can edit the payee, the category/subcategory, the tags, and the memo. This is called bulk editing.

Let's consider bulk editing categories as an example. Consider a situation where you are using two categories, Domain and Website. Later, you decide that you need only Website. In this situation, you need to edit all the transactions associated with the category Domain and change to Website. This might be a huge task as there could be many such transactions. You can do a bulk edit of all these transactions and change the associated category to Website all at once.

To bulk edit transactions:

  1. First, ensure that the accounts you want to edit are not hidden.
  2. In the Quicken sidebar, select All Transactions.
  3. Click the Search field, then click the search icon and select the option Category.

  4. Type the name of the category you want to find and change (such as Domain). All the transactions associated with the category will display.
  5. Select all these transactions (Command+A).
  6. Go to File > Get Info (Command+I). The Transactions Info window will display.
  7. In the Category field, enter the category name you want to change the categories to (such as Website).
  8. Click OK. All the selected transactions that were associated with the original category category are now associated with new category.

What if some transactions have split categories?

Bulk edit will not change categories in a split. If you wish to edit split transactions, you need to edit each individually.

  9. Delete the original category (such as Domain) if you wish to eliminate it.

Similarly, you can do a bulk edit for other transaction attributes such as payee, memo, and tags.

NOTE: If you make a mistake or change your mind, just select undo (EditUndo) from the Quicken menu.
