You can save your tax-related Quicken data into a .txf file. This data in the .txf file can then be imported in TurboTax.

Export data to tax software

To export your tax-related Quicken data to TurboTax or any other tax software, you first need to populate the Tax Schedule report with the required tax-related transactions. For details, refer to Run the Tax Schedule report.

You then need to export this report to a .txf file as explained below:

  1. On the feature bar, click the Reports tab arrow and from the drop-down menu, select the Tax Schedule report.
  2. In Quicken, choose File > Export Tax Report. You can also click the Export Taxes.. button on the upper right side of the report.
  3. Choose the tax year for which you want to export data.
  4. Click Next.
  5. If required, enter a new name for the exported file. However, ensure that you retains the .txf file extension so that it can be imported in TurboTax.
  6. By default, Quicken saves the file in the Quicken folder, inside your Documents folder. If required, provide a different path.
  7. Click Save. You can now import this report into a tax software such as TurboTax.

Import a tax file into TurboTax

After you have exported your tax-related Quicken data into a .txf file, you can import this file into TurboTax as explained below.

  1. Open the TurboTax application.
  2. Choose Import > Accounting Software.
  3. Select Other Financial Software (TXF file), and then click Continue.
  4. Select the file you want to import.
