The Password Vault is no longer used for Express Web Connect accounts, which is the most common way to connect to an online account. Unless you use less common connection methods such as Direct Connect, you do not need the Password Vault. For more information, see the support site article Why don't I need to enter my bank password to download from my bank?

Should I reset my Password Vault or delete my Password Vault?

Deleting the Password Vault

Deleting the Password Vault removes all stored passwords and deletes the current vault password.  You will no longer be prompted to enter the Password Vault password before updating accounts. This is the best option if you only use Express Web Connect, which no longer requires the Password Vault. You may still need to reset your individual passwords, which can be done through the One Step Update screen.

To delete the Password Vault

  1. From the top menu, select Tools Password Vault → Delete Vault and all Saved Passwords.
  2. Select Yes.

You have now deleted the Password Vault. If you only use Express Web Connect for your accounts, you do not need a new Password Vault.

You can create a new Password Vault at any time by going to Tools Password Vault → Set up new Password Vault.

Resetting the Password Vault

Resetting the Password Vault removes the saved passwords while retaining the current Password Vault password.  You will still be prompted to enter the Password Vault password when updating accounts. This is the best option if you use Direct Connect and are seeing invalid password errors when you update your accounts.

To Reset the Password Vault

  1. From the top menu, select Tools Password Vault → Reset Vault.
  2. Enter a new password for the Password Vault.
  3. Select OK.
  4. Quicken will confirm that your password vault password has been reset.

Your account passwords in the Password Vault are now reset. You will need to add passwords for any accounts that require the Password Vault.

Print the Password Vault

If you're not sure what your passwords are, you can print the Password Vault to see the passwords that are stored.

  1. Choose the Tools menu > Password Vault > Add or Edit Passwords and enter your Password Vault password.
  2. Click Print and enter your Password Vault password, and then click OK.
  3. Select the appropriate options in the Print dialog, and then click OK to print the Password Vault.
