The Confirm Principal and Interest dialog displays when Quicken needs information about your loan payment in order to accurately track your loan balance, including the principal and interest that you've paid over the life of the loan. This will happen if you are paying an amount other than the set reminder amount.

  1. Using your loan statement or financial institution website, verify or enter the principal and interest amounts for this loan payment.
  2. If you want to pay extra on your principal, simply add the amount to the principal field. For example, if the expected principal amount is 1000 dollars, and you want to pay 500 dollars extra, enter 1500 dollars in the Principal Amount field.
  3. Click OK.

If you are seeing this alert for a closed loan account, be sure you've removed any reminders related to that account.
