  2. Specify the required account name, description, currency, and account type in their respective fields.
  3. For Scheduled transactions, specify what transactions you would like to see in your register.
  4. You can hide the account, keep it separate or mark it as closed under the Account Display section.
  5. In the At your financial institution section, define the settings to download transactions. Click the Set up transaction download button. The screen to select your bank is displayed.
  6. Select your bank from the list and click Options. Specify how you want Quicken to connect to your bank.
  7. Click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the configuration. The details of your download preferences are displayed.
  8. You have certain configuration options depending on the automatic download type selected. The details are explained below:

Quicken Connect

If you have selected Quicken Connect, you have these options:

  • Change connection preference: Go to the Downloads tab, click Change Connection Type and follow the on-screen instructions. For example, if you want to change from Quicken Connect to Direct Connect. (Note: this option may not be available for all financial institutions.)
  • Stop automatic downloads: Go to the Troubleshooting tab and click Deactivate Downloads. This will disable downloads for this account and you will need to manually enter all transactions.
  • Update your password: If you update your financial institution password at their website, you must update the new password in Quicken too. For this, go to the Troubleshooting tab, click the Update Password button and provide the updated password of your financial institution.

Direct Connect

If you have selected Direct Connect, you have these options:

  • Change connection preferences: Go to the Downloads tab, click Change Connection Type and follow the on-screen instructions. For example, if you want to change from Direct Connect to Quicken Connect. (Note: this option may not be available for all financial institutions.)

  • Change your password: Some financial institutions using Direct Connect may allow you to change the password of your financial institution from Quicken. For this, go to the Troubleshooting tab and click the Update Password button. Follow the on-screen instructions to provide a new password for your financial institution. (Note: this option may not be available for all financial institutions.)
  • Specify your download range: You have the option to download transactions from a specific date till today or all available transactions. The default setting is based on your past download activity and is usually the best option. However, if you need to download transactions from a different period or if you are trying to correct a download problem, you can change this date range as needed or as directed by customer support. (Note: this option is available only for Direct Connect accounts. Further, the transaction range available for download varies with each financial institution.)
