At Intuit, we place the highest importance on respecting and protecting the privacy of our customers. Our most important asset is our relationship with you. We want you to feel comfortable and confident when using our products and services. Therefore, we would like to share with you the following principles that govern our information practices and other privacy aspects of our Quicken Home Inventory software product.
Because of the financial nature of our business, this product is not designed to appeal to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly request or receive any information from children. Our Philosophy and Practices
We tell you how we use your information
When we ask you for information, we will tell you, or it will be clear, what information is required to fulfill your request. We will also tell you how we will use the information we're asking for. We tell you how our software interfaces with the Internet Our products may connect to the Internet for product registration, to provide you with product support, or for access to community discussion forums and blogs. Our products may also connect to the Internet to provide you updates to your software. Integrated Browser. When accessing the Internet from within your software, you may view Web pages using an Integrated Browser. Using this Browser allows you to view related information, as well as information on the Internet, without leaving your software. You can click the Full Browser button on the toolbar of the Web Browser if you'd like to launch your browser outside of your software. The Integrated Browser includes standard browser functionality, including the ability to send and receive cookies, as well as the transmission of information such as your browser version and operating system. However, it will not transmit information you have input into your software without your permission. When you access non-Intuit Web sites using the Integrated Browser, we encourage you to review the non-Intuit Web sites' privacy policies to learn more about what, why and how they collect, use and store personally identifiable information. Intuit is not responsible for the action of these third parties. Support and Feedback. We invite you to share your questions and thoughts about our products. When submitting a customer support question or providing feedback, we require your e-mail address in the event we need to contact you about your question or comment or to inquire about your support experience. To better understand your issue or suggestion, we may also collect information about your operating system and browser type. We may also collect site usage information, such as the screen you were on when you clicked on the support or feedback link. Community Discussion Forums and Blogs. Community discussion forums and blogs enable users to communicate with each other and with our product teams. To participate in our forums and blogs, we require that you provide a valid e-mail address. We may use your e-mail address in the event we need to contact you regarding your postings or to inquire about your community experience. We recommend that care be taken in posting personal information on forums or blogs, as any information you provide is accessible by other users. E-mail Messaging. If we send you e-mail, we may use an image called a single-pixel GIF, that allows us to format messages tailored to your computer's capabilities. We also use this technology to determine, in the aggregate, the number of people who open our e-mails. When you initiate a response by clicking on a link within an e-mail message, you are redirected onto the Internet. We then record your individual response to help us deliver information that is more relevant to your interests. Redirect Servers. Redirect servers allow us to update Web site link navigation, so that links within your software stay current. Redirect servers are also used to determine click-through rates from your software to online links. We use this "click through" data in the aggregate to determine what links are most useful to our customers. Web Technologies. When accessing our online services, you may be redirected to a Web site hosted by Intuit or by our service providers. Like many Web sites, we use a variety of technologies to make our sites easier to use and manage. We want to provide you a clear description of what these technologies are and how we use them, on our Web sites. For example, our sites use cookies, which are pieces of information that our Web sites provide to your browser. Cookies allow us to track overall site usage and determine areas users prefer. Cookies also allow us to customize your visit to our Web sites by recognizing you when you return. You can choose to decline cookies while at our Web site, however, this may limit your ability to access certain areas of the Web site. Most browsers accept and maintain cookies by default. Check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preference. When we track activity on Intuit Web sites, we collect information such as your IP address, browser type and version, pages you view and the questions or bugs you submit. We also keep track of how you get to our sites and any links you click on to leave our sites. We do not track URLs that you type into your browser, nor do we track you across the Internet once you leave our sites. We use your Web site activity to assist you by reducing the need to re-enter your data and to help us resolve technical support issues. This information helps our customer support agents respond to your questions with directly relevant information in the quickest way possible. We may also use this information to offer you a personalized Web experience and to tailor our offerings to you. Remember, you control whether you receive Intuit promotional materials. We give you choice and control We may use your contact information to provide you with information about your product or other products we think might interest you. However, if you don't want us to contact you for promotional purposes, you can tell us when you provide your contact information. You may also specify your contact preferences by visiting our Privacy Web site. Your contact preferences only apply to contact for promotional purposes. We may need to communicate with you regarding the usability of your product or critical messages relating to your service or software (such as service messages, critical notices, or legally mandated notices). You can update or correct your contact information by calling us at (800) 811-8766. We work to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration We use industry recognized security safeguards to help protect the personally identifiable information you provide us from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration. Some of our products may offer you the ability to register your product with Intuit. When you submit registration information, we support the encryption of your data as it is transmitted to us. We work to protect personally identifiable information stored on our servers from unauthorized access using industry standard computer security products such as firewalls, as well as carefully developed security procedures and practices. All Intuit employees must review and sign a written statement of these practices, which include limiting access to sensitive information only to those employees who require the information and enforcing strict password protocols for all employees. We use both internal and external resources to review the adequacy of our security measures on a regular basis. We tell you about our relationships with Third Parties Sometimes we enter into contracts with other companies who assist us in servicing you such as filling customer orders or providing customer service. We refer to these companies as "service providers". The contracts with these service providers outline the appropriate use and handling of your information and prohibit them from using any of your personal information for purposes unrelated to the product or service for which they've been contracted. Service providers are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information we provide to them. Our products may provide links to third-party Web sites. Because Intuit does not control the information policies or practices of these third parties, you should review their privacy policies to learn more about how they collect and use personal information. We may disclose or report personal information in limited circumstances where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required under the law. For example, we may be required to disclose personal information to cooperate with regulators or law enforcement authorities, to comply with a legal process such as a court order, subpoena, search warrant, or a law enforcement request. Should we sell, merge or transfer any part of our business, part of the sale may include your personal information. If so, you will have the opportunity to ask not to receive promotional information following any change of control. We may use sources outside of Intuit to supplement the information you give us. For example, we may validate your address using other sources. We use this data to help us maintain accuracy and provide you with better service. Intuit and its subsidiaries may exchange information about your transactions to fulfill your requests. We may also provide you with information about products or services we believe you may be interested in unless you have asked us not to contact you. We offer you the opportunity to review privacy practices at our subsidiaries' Web sites.
