| Setting up your Quicken.com alerts
| What kinds of announcements can I select from?
| You can ask Quicken.com to notify you whenever a security in your portfolio(s) announces a dividend, whenever Analyst Actions are announced, whenever the security splits, when earnings are reported, and when a security nears its expected earnings date.
| Can I get announcements emailed to me?
| No, announcements are displayed when you access your portfolio. You can choose to have them displayed in a pop-up window if you prefer.
| What kind of events can I choose to be notified about on the Customize Alerts page?
The Customize Alerts page (opens in new window) lets you set the following triggers for notification:- Price and Volume Alerts. You can set up individual price alerts or volume alerts for any security in your portfolio.
- Announcements and Industry Buzz. You can choose from a variety of market events—such as stock splits, dividends, and analyst announcements—about which you want Quicken.com to notify you with an alert.
- Overall Account Value. When the overall value of a portfolio rises or falls beyond a figure you specify, Quicken.com can notify you with an alert.
| How can I receive my Alerts information?
| By default, Quicken.com displays your alerts whenever you click on an Alert icon. If you prefer, you can have Quicken.com display your alerts in a pop-up window whenever your portfolio meets the criteria you have specified for alerts—for example, whenever a ticker's price change exceeds 5% in a day, or whenever a portfolio value rises beyond the value you specify. To choose this, go to the Alerts page and find the Displaying Alerts section. Look for the phrase "When I am on Quicken.com, show my alerts:" and select the button marked "Any time there is a new alert."
| How do I set price and volume alerts?
You can set price and volume alerts independently for any security in your portfolio(s). You can specify the point at which you receive notification in two ways:- By setting a price target. To set a price target, enter an upper and a lower price in the boxes beside the name for the security you're interested in. Quicken.com will notify you if your security trades below or above the price targets you have set. Example: you're waiting for a stock to drop below $25 a share; type 25 in the box under the Drops Below column beside that ticker, and Quicken.com will notify you if the stock drops below $25 a share.
- By setting a percentage target (for price or volume). To set a percentage target, click on the arrow beneath the Price or Volume drop-down list boxes at the upper-right corner of the Customize Alerts page, then select the percentage of change at which you wish to be notified. For price percentage targets, Quicken.com will notify you if your security's daily price changes by the percentage you select, whether it rises or falls. For volume percentage targets, Quicken.com will notify you if your security's daily volume exceeds the average daily volume by the percentage you select.
By default, the percentage alerts are applied to every ticker in your portfolio. You can set alerts for individual tickers by clicking on the button labeled Select % by symbol, below the price and volume drop-down list boxes. This displays a percentage price and percentage volume list box beside each ticker in your portfolio.
| How can I receive alerts about changes to the overall value of my portfolio(s)?
| You can have Quicken.com notify you whenever the overall value for each portfolio you have in Quicken.com reaches a point you select. You can set a floor and a ceiling value for notification on each of your portfolios, and you'll receive an alert whenever that portfolio drops below the floor or rises above the ceiling. You can also choose to be notified whenever an individual portfolio's overall value changes (rises or falls) by a specified percentage of 5%, 10%, 15%, or 20%.
| Where can I find links to the Customize Alerts page?
| You can get to the Customize Alerts page from the Quicken.com Alerts page, by clicking on Customize my alerts.

| About Quicken.com Alerts
| Quicken.com's alerts notify you of significant changes or activity related to symbols in your portfolio. What's significant? You decide. By customizing your alerts, you determine what kinds of activity you want to hear about. You can set high and low price targets for individual stocks to learn when a symbol you're tracking has risen above or dropped below a certain value; you may also choose to be notified when the total value of a portfolio reaches a particular high or low, or changes by a given percentage. You can choose events to be notified of, set price and volume alerts, choose how you want your alerts displayed, and more.

| How do I set up my Quicken.com alerts for display?
| There are two pages from which you can set up your Quicken.com alerts: the Alerts page, and the Customize Alerts page. The Alerts page lists your current alerts. The Customize Alerts page lets you set up the trigger values (price, volume, industry buzz, etc.) that cause Quicken.com to notify you.

| Viewing alerts
| Where did yesterday's alerts go?
| Alert information is only displayed for one day. None of your alerts for a given day will appear when you come back to Alerts the next day. However, the information is now historical and can be found in other places on Quicken.com. If you are away from the site for up to seven days, any text alerts that occurred while you were away will be displayed in the New Alerts section when you first come back and will then move to the Viewed Alerts section for the rest of the day. Price alerts are only for the current day.
| What is the difference between new alerts and viewed alerts?
| The first time that you see an alert, it appears in the New Alerts section at the top of the page. Any time during the day when you come back to the page it will appear in the Viewed Alerts section. In addition, if you have already viewed an alert through some other means (for example, by clicking on the Alert symbol in your portfolio), that alert appears in the Viewed Alerts section. Alerts, whether New or Viewed, are only held for a single day. None of these alerts will appear when you come back to Alerts the next day.
